Hadith 98
نا أَبُو حَامِدٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ عَسْكَرٍ . ح ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ ، قَالا : ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، وَعُقَيْلٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِشَاةٍ مَيْتَةٍ ، فَقَالَ : " هَلا انْتَفَعْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا ؟ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ ، قَالَ : إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ أَكْلُهَا . زَادَ عَقِيلٌ : أَوَلَيْسَ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالدِّبَاغِ مَا يُطَهِّرُهَا " . وَقَالَ ابْنُ هَانِئٍ : " أَوَلَيْسَ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالْقَرَظِ مَا يُطَهِّرُهَا " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) passed by a dead goat and said: "Why do you not make use of its skin?" The people said: O Messenger of Allah! It is dead. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Its flesh is forbidden to eat." The narrator named Aqil added these words in his narration: "Can it not be purified by water and tanning?" In the narration of Ibn Hani, the words are: "Can it not be purified by water and the bark of the acacia tree?"
Hadith 99
ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، نا عَمْرُو بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ . وَقَالَ : زَادَ عَقِيلٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلَيْسَ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالْقَرَظِ مَا يُطَهِّرُهَا وَالدِّبَاغِ ".
This narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, the narrator named Aqil has additionally reported these words in his narration: "The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Can it not be purified by tanning it with water and the bark of the acacia tree?"
Hadith 100
ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَاعِدٍ ، نا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِعَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ، قَالا : ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، ثنا الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِشَاةٍ مَيْتَةٍ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذِهِ ؟ " ، فَقَالُوا : أُعْطِيتَهَا مَوْلاةٌ لِمَيْمُونَةَ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ ، قَالَ : " أَفَلا أَخَذُوا إِهَابَهَا فَدَبَغُوهُ وَانْتَفَعُوا بِهِ ؟ " ، فَقَالُوا : إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ أَكْلُهَا " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) passed by a dead goat. He inquired: "Whose is this?" The people replied: "It was given as charity to the slave woman of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her)." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Why did they not skin it, tan its hide, and benefit from it?" The people said: "It is dead." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "It is forbidden to eat the dead (animal)."
Hadith 101
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَيْرُوزَ ، إِمْلاءً ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَقُرِئَ عَلَى ابْنِ صَاعِدٍ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ ، قَالُوا : نا أَبُو عُتْبَةَ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، نا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، نا الزُّبَيْدِيُّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِشَاةٍ دَاجِنٍ لِبَعْضِ أَهْلِهِ قَدْ نَفَقَتْ ، فَقَالَ : " أَلا اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِجِلْدِهَا ؟ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ دِبَاغَهَا ذَكَاتُهَا " . وَقَالَ ابْنُ صَاعِدٍ : " إِنَّ دِبَاغَهُ ذَكَاتُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the pet goat of one of his noble wives, which had died. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why do you not make use of its skin?" The people said: O Messenger of Allah! It is dead. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It becomes pure through tanning." In the narration transmitted by Ibn Sa'id, there is some difference in wording (i.e., instead of the detached feminine singular pronoun, the attached masculine singular pronoun is transmitted).
Hadith 102
نا ابْنُ أَبِي صَاعِدٍ ، نا أحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، نا أحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ ، قَالا : نا الَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، نا الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهَذَا ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ لَحْمُهَا وَدِبَاغُ إِهَابِهَا طَهُورُهَا " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Its meat is forbidden, its skin can be purified through tanning."
Hadith 103
ثنا ابْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، نا بلالُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، نا عبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، نا عبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِهَذَا ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحْمُهَا وَرُخِّصَ لَكُمْ فِي مَسْكِهَا " . هَذِهِ أَسَانِيدُ صِحَاحٌ.
The same narration is transmitted from Zuhri with another chain, in which these words are present: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Its meat has been declared unlawful for you, and its skin has been permitted (for use)." The chain of this hadith is "sahih" (authentic).
Hadith 104
ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الدَّقَّاقُ ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لأَهْلِ شَاةٍ مَاتَتْ : " أَلا نَزَعْتُمْ إِهَابَهَا فَدَبَغْتُمُوهُ وَانْتَفَعْتُمْ بِهِ ؟ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the owner of a dead goat, "Why did you not remove its skin? You could have tanned it and benefited from it."
Hadith 105
نا بِهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأُمَوِيُّ . ح وَنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَرْبِيُّ ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ، ثنا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ دَاجِنَةً لِمَيْمُونَةَ مَاتَتْ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلا انْتَفَعْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا ؟ أَلا دَبَغْتُمُوهُ ، فَإِنَّهُ ذَكَاةٌ لَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once, the pet goat of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) died, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why do you not make use of its skin? Tan it, for in this way it becomes purified."
Hadith 106
ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ الْحَنَّاطُ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يُونُسَ السَّرَّاجُ ، ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " ذَكَاةُ الْمَيْتَةِ دِبَاغُهَا " . قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ : وَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُونَ : " ذَكَاةُ الصُّوفِ غَسْلُهُ " خَالَفَهُ حُسَيْنٌ الْمَرْوَرُوذِيُّ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، فَقَالَ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " دِبَاغُهَا طَهُورُهَا " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The way to purify a dead animal's skin is to tan it." Ibrahim Nakha'i states: The students of Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "The way to purify wool is to wash it."
Hadith 107
حَدَّثَنَاهُ ابْنُ كَامِلٍ ، نا ابْنُ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ عَنْهُ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its tanning is its purification." This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 108
ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، وَاللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ حُذَافَةَ ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أُمِّهِ الْعَالِيَةِ بِنْتِ سُبَيْعٍ ، أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَتْهَا ، أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَفَرٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ يَجُرُّونَ شَاةً لَهُمْ مثل الْحِمَارِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ أَخَذْتُمْ إِهَابَهَا " ، قَالُوا : إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ ، قَالَ الرَّسُولُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُطَهِّرُهَا الْمَاءُ وَالْقَرَظُ " .
Aliyah bint Sabi’ narrates that the noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), informed her: Once, the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by some people of Quraysh. They were dragging their sheep in the same way as a (dead) donkey is dragged. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to them: “If you take its skin, (that would be appropriate).” They said: It is dead. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Water and acacia leaves will purify it.”
Hadith 109
نا محَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ الْعَبْدِيُّ ، ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، نا أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ جَوْنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبَّقِ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعَا فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ بِمَاءٍ مِنْ عِنْدِ امْرَأَةٍ ، فَقَالَتْ : مَا عِنْدِي مَاءٌ إِلا فِي قِرْبَةٍ لِي مَيْتَةٍ ، فَقَالَ : " أَلَيْسَ قَدْ دَبَغَتْهَا ؟ ، قَالَتْ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ ذَكَاتَهَا دِبَاغُهَا " .
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Muhabbaq رضي الله عنه narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم asked a woman for water. She said: The water I have is in a waterskin made from a dead (animal). The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Did you not tan (its skin)?" The woman replied: Yes! The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Tanning makes it pure."
Hadith 110
ثنا ابْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، ثنا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، بِهَذَا قَالَ : " دِبَاغُ الأَدِيمِ ذَكَاتُهُ " .
This narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, in it are the words: "By tanning the leather, it becomes purified."
Hadith 111
ثنا ابْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا الدَّقِيقِيُّ ، ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ جَوْنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبَّقِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِهَذَا قَالَ : " دِبَاغُهَا طَهُورُهَا " .
This narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, in it are the words: "Its tanning alone purifies it."
Hadith 112
نا ابْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْحَرْبِيُّ ، نا عَفَّانُ ، وَالْحَوْضِيُّ ، وَمُوسَى ، قَالُوا : نا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، بِهَذَا وَقَالَ : " دِبَاغُهَا ذَكَاتُهَا " .
This narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, in it are the words: "Its tanning makes it pure."
Hadith 113
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ، نا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَعْلَةَ الْمِصْرِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " دِبَاغُ كُلِّ إِهَابٍ طُهُورُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every hide is purified through tanning."
Hadith 114
ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَنَّاطُ ، نا ابْنُ أَبِي مَذْعُورٍ ، نا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ وَعْلَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا دُبِغَ الإِهَابُ فَقَدْ طَهُرَ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates the statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When the hide is tanned, it becomes pure."
Hadith 115
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ، نا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ ، ح وَنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الأَزْرَقُ يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ بُهْلُولٍ ، ثنا جَدِّي ، نا عَمَّارُ بْنُ سَلامٍ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ ، نا زَافِرٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيِّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " قُلْ لا أَجِدُ فِي مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَى طَاعِمٍ يَطْعَمُهُ سورة الأنعام آية 145 ، قَالَ : الطَّاعِمُ الآكِلُ ، فَأَمَّا السِّنُّ ، وَالْقَرْنُ ، وَالْعَظْمُ ، وَالصُّوفُ ، وَالشَّعْرُ ، وَالْوَبَرُ ، وَالْعَصَبُ فَلا بَأْسَ بِهِ لأَنَّهُ يُغْسَلُ " . وَقَالَ شَبَابَةُ : " إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ مَا يُؤْكَلُ مِنْهَا وَهُوَ اللَّحْمُ فَأَمَّا الْجِلْدُ وَالسِّنُّ وَالْعَظْمُ وَالشَّعْرُ وَالصُّوفُ فَهُوَ حَلالٌ " ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ ضَعِيفٌ.
The command of Allah Almighty is: "Say! I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden to an eater that he eats." Explaining this in detail, Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Here, "ta'im" (eater) refers to the person who eats. As for teeth, horns, bones, wool, hair, and fur, there is no harm in them, because they are washed. The narrator named Shababa has reported this: "That part of a dead animal is forbidden which is eaten, and that is the flesh. As for the skin, bone, teeth, hair, and wool, it is permissible to use them (for other purposes)." The narrator of this narration, Abu Bakr Hadhli, is weak.
Hadith 116
نا أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، بِبَيْرُوتَ ، نا أَبُو أَيُّوبَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، نا يُوسُفُ بْنُ السَّفَرِ ، نا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، تَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لا بَأْسَ بِمَسْكِ الْمَيْتَةِ إِذَا دُبِغَ ، وَلا بَأْسَ بِصُوفِهَا وَشَعْرِهَا وَقُرُونِهَا إِذَا غُسِلَ بِالْمَاءِ " . يُوسُفُ بْنُ السَّفَرِ مَتْرُوكٌ ، وَلَمْ يَأْتِ بِهِ غَيْرُهُ .
Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman narrates: I heard the noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), saying: She said: I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: "When the skin of a dead animal is tanned, then there is no harm in using it; there is no harm in using its wool, its hair, or its horns, when they are washed with water." The narrator of this narration, Yusuf bin Safar, is abandoned, and no other narration is transmitted from him except this narration (or only he has transmitted this narration).
Hadith 117
نا عبْدُ الْبَاقِي بْنُ قَانِعٍ ، نا إسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، نا سلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، نا يُوسُفُ بْنُ السَّفَرِ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ سَوَاءً.
This same narration is transmitted with another chain through the authority of Yusuf bin Safar.
Hadith 118
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الأَيْلِيُّ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبُسْرِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ ، نا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ الرَّسُولُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ لَحْمَهَا ، وَأَمَّا الْجِلْدُ ، وَالشَّعْرُ ، وَالصُّوفُ فَلا بَأْسَ بِهِ " . عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ ضَعِيفٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared the flesh of carrion (dead animals) to be unlawful (haram), but as for its skin, its hair, and its wool, there is no harm in them. The narrator of this narration, "Abdul Jabbar," is weak.
Hadith 119
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَابِدُ ، نا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ الأَوْدِيِّ ، عَنْ هُزَيْلِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، أَوْ زَيْنَبَ ، أَوْ غَيْرِهِمَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ مَاتَتْ شَاةٌ لَهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلا اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا ؟ " ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَيْفَ نَسْتَمْتِعُ بِهَا وَهِيَ مَيْتَةٌ ، فَقَالَ : " طَهُورُ الأُدْمِ دِبَاغُهُ " . وَقَالَ غَيْرُهُ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ هُزَيْلِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : كَانَتْ لَنَا شَاةٌ فَمَاتَتْ.
Huzail bin Shurahbeel narrates from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her), or Sayyida Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), or from another wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him) besides these two, that Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) had a goat that died. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: "Why do you not use its skin?" Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! How can we use it, it is dead (carrion)? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The skin is purified through tanning." The same narration is transmitted with another chain from one of the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him), with these words: We had a goat that died.
Hadith 120
نا محَمَّدُ بْنُ نُوحٍ الْجُنْدِيسَابُورِيُّ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي هَوْذَةَ ، نا زَافِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيِّ ، أَنَّ الزُّهْرِيَّ ، حَدَّثَهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " قُلْ لا أَجِدُ فِي مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَى طَاعِمٍ يَطْعَمُهُ سورة الأنعام آية 145 ، أَلا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ حَلالٌ إِلا مَا أُكِلَ مِنْهَا ، فَأَمَّا الْجِلْدُ ، وَالْقَرْنُ ، وَالشَّعْرُ ، وَالصُّوفُ ، وَالسِّنُّ ، وَالْعَظْمُ فَكُلُّ هَذَا حَلالٌ لأَنَّهُ لا يُذَكَّى " . أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ مَتْرُوكٌ.
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say: (Allah, the Exalted) said: "Say! In what has been revealed to me, I do not find anything forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it..." (The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said:) "Everything from a dead animal is lawful except that which is eaten (as food). As for the skin, horn, hair, wool, tooth, and bone, all of these are lawful, because they are not slaughtered." The narrator of this narration, Abu Bakr Hadhli, is "abandoned."
Hadith 121
ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَقِيلِ بْنِ خُوَيْلِدٍ ، نا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّمَا إِهَابٍ دُبِغَ فَقَدْ طَهُرَ " . إِسْنَادٌ حَسَنٌ.
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any hide that has been tanned becomes pure." Its chain of narration is "Hasan" (good).
Hadith 122
ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ هَارُونَ بْنِ مَرْدَانْشَاهَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، قَالا : نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الصَّفَّارُ ، نا الْوَاقِدِيُّ ، نا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " دِبَاغُ جُلُودِ الْمَيْتَةِ طَهُورُهَا " .
Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Tanning the skin of a dead animal makes it pure."
Hadith 123
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ ، نا سُوَيْدٌ ، نا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى شَاةٍ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذِهِ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : مَيْتَةٌ ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ادْبُغُوا إِهَابَهَا ، فَإِنَّ دِبَاغَهُ طَهُورٌ " . الْقَاسِمُ ضَعِيفٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) passed by a goat. He asked: "What has happened to it?" The people replied: "It is dead." The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Tan its skin, for tanning purifies it." The narrator of this narration, Qasim, is "weak."
Hadith 124
نا محَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، وَآخَرُونَ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ ، نا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " طَهُورُ كُلِّ أَدِيمٍ دِبَاغُهُ " . إِسْنَادٌ حَسَنٌ كُلُّهُمْ ثِقَاتٌ.
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: "The way to purify leather is that it should be tanned." Its chain of narration is "Hasan" and all its narrators are trustworthy.
Hadith 125
ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ يُوسُفَ الرَّقِّيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ ، قَالَ : نا فرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ لَهَا شَاةٌ تَحْتَلِبُهَا ، فَفَقَدَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا فَعَلَتِ الشَّاةُ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : مَاتَتْ ، قَالَ : " أَفَلا انْتَفَعْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا ؟ ، قُلْنَا : إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ دِبَاغَهَا يَحِلُّ كَمَا يَحِلُّ خَلُّ الْخَمْرِ " . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ فَرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ.
Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: She had a goat from which she used to milk. Once, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not see the goat, so he inquired: “Where is the goat?” The people informed him: It has died. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Why do you not benefit from its skin?” We submitted: It is carrion. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Its tanning makes it lawful, just as vinegar makes wine lawful.” In narrating this report, Faraj bin Fadalah is alone, and it is “weak.”
Hadith 126
نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُغَلِّسٍ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الأَزْهَرِ الْبَلْخِيُّ ، نا مَعْرُوفُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، نا عُمَرُ بْنُ ذَرٍّ ، عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اسْتَمْتِعُوا بِجُلُودِ الْمَيْتَةِ إِذَا هِيَ دُبِغَتْ تُرَابًا كَانَ أَوْ رَمَادًا أَوْ مِلْحًا أَوْ مَا كَانَ ، بَعْدُ أَنْ تُرِيدَ صَلاحَهُ " .
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Make use of the hide of a dead animal, whether it has been tanned with earth, ash, salt, or anything else, or (the narrator is in doubt about these words:) or after it has become usable by means of anything (through tanning)."
