Hadith 63
Zaid bin Aslam narrates from his father: When we were in Syria, I brought water to Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). He performed ablution with that water and then asked: "Where did you bring this water from? I have not seen any heavenly water sweeter or purer than this." The narrator states: I replied, "I brought it from the house of an old Christian woman." When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had performed ablution, he went to that woman. He said: "O old woman! Accept Islam, you will be safe. Allah Almighty has sent Muhammad (peace be upon him) with the truth." The narrator states: The woman removed her headscarf, and her hair was as white as the flowers of the thaghama (a type of flower). The old woman said: "Now I am about to die." So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Allah! Bear witness!"
