حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمُثَنَّى ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ الأَذَانُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالإِقَامَةُ مَرَّةً ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ الْمُؤَذِّنَ كَانَ إِذَا قَالَ : قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلاةُ ، قَالَ : قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلاةُ مَرَّتَيْنِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the words of the adhan were said twice and the words of the iqamah were said once, except that when the mu’adhdhin recited “Qad qamatis-salah,” he would say it twice.
