Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A woman in postnatal bleeding will wait for forty days. If she attains purity before that, she will be considered pure. If it exceeds forty days, then the woman will be considered as experiencing irregular bleeding (mustahadah). Like a mustahadah woman, she will perform ghusl and offer prayers. Even if the blood continues to flow excessively, she will perform ablution for every prayer." The narrators of this narration, Amr bin Husayn and Ibn Alathah, are both weak and abandoned.
