Abu Bakr Hadhli narrates from Hasan Basri, who narrates from the wife of Hazrat Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that when she became pure from nifas (postnatal bleeding), she adorned herself. So Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As said: "Did I not tell you?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had instructed us: "We should keep away from women in nifas for forty days." The narrator named Umar bin Harun has transmitted this as a marfu' narration, while the narrator named Waki' has transmitted it differently.
