Ibn Abi Mulaika narrates: Sayyida Fatima bint Abi Hubaysh (may Allah be pleased with her) suffered from istihada (non-menstrual bleeding). She had not performed prayers for such a long period. She went to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "O Mother of the Believers! I fear that I may become among the people of Hell and that I may have no share in Islam. A long time has passed in which I have not prayed. I have been experiencing the blood of istihada." Sayyida Aisha said: "Wait. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) comes, ask him in the same way you have mentioned to me." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah! This is Fatima bint Abi Hubaysh. She has mentioned to me that she is suffering from istihada and has not been able to perform prayers for a long time. She fears that she may become a disbeliever or that she may have no share in Islam before Allah, the Exalted." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell Fatima that she should leave the prayer during the specific days of her menstruation each month. When those specific days have passed, she should perform ghusl once, place cotton on her private part, and tie a wide band over it (so that the blood does not come out). Then she should perform ablution for every prayer and offer the prayer. What has afflicted her is a poke from Satan, or a vein that has been severed, or a disease that has afflicted her." The same narration is also transmitted with another chain.
