Hadith 832

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْبَخْتَرِيِّ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْجُشَمِيُّ ، نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، نا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلا أَطْهُرُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اجْتَنِبِي الصَّلاةَ أَيَّامَ حَيْضِكِ ، ثُمَّ اغْتَسِلِي وَصُومِي وَصَلِّي ، وَإِنْ قَطَرَ الدَّمُ عَلَى الْحَصِيرِ " ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنِّي أُسْتَحَاضُ لا يَنْقَطِعُ الدَّمُ عَنِّي ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ وَلَيْسَ بِحَيْضٍ فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَ الْحَيْضُ فَدَعِي الصَّلاةَ فَإِذَا أَدْبَرَ فَاغْتَسِلِي وَصَلِّي " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh came and said, "I suffer from continuous bleeding; I do not become pure." The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Do not perform prayer during the specific days of menstruation, then perform ghusl (ritual bath) and then observe fasting and perform prayer, even if drops of blood fall on the mat." The woman said, "I am afflicted with istihada (non-menstrual bleeding); my blood does not stop." So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "This is blood from another vein; it is not menstrual blood. When menstruation comes, then leave the prayer, and when it ends, perform ghusl and start performing prayer."
