Hadith 821

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْحَسَّانِيُّ ، نا وَكِيعٌ ، ثنا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلا أَطْهُرُ أَفَأَدَعُ الصَّلاةَ ؟ قَالَ : " لا إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ ، وَلَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ اجْتَنِبِي الصَّلاةَ أَيَّامَ مَحِيضِكِ ، ثُمَّ اغْتَسِلِي وَتَوَضَّئِي لِكُلِّ صَلاةٍ ، وَإِنْ قَطَرَ الدَّمُ عَلَى الْحَصِيرِ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). She said: "O Messenger of Allah! I am a woman who suffers from continuous bleeding (istihada). I do not become pure. Should I abandon the prayer?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "This is blood from a vein, not menstruation. Do not pray during the days of your menstruation. After that, perform ghusl (ritual bath) and perform wudu (ablution) for every prayer, even if drops of blood fall onto the mat."
