Sulaiman bin Yasar reports: Sayyida Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh (may Allah be pleased with her) suffered from istihada (non-menstrual bleeding), to the extent that a large vessel would be placed for her which would become filled with blood. The narrator states: Then she said to Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the matter." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She should refrain from prayer during the days of menstruation, then perform ghusl, tie a cloth, and perform the prayer."
