Lady Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, who was the wife of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, narrates: Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh suffered from istihada (non-menstrual bleeding) during the time of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Lady Umm Salamah asked the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about her issue, so the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "She should count the number of days she used to have menstruation in previous months, and during that period she should refrain from prayer. When that time passes, she should perform ghusl (ritual bath), make wudu (ablution), and, after placing a cloth (to prevent the blood), she should perform the prayer."
