حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ أَبِي حَيَّةَ ، نَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مَسْمُولٍ ، نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " سَبَّقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بَيْنَ الْخَيْلِ وَكُنْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ مِنْهَا ، فَقَالَ : لا تَزَالُ تَبْضِعُهُ ، أَيْ لا تَزَالُ تَضْرِبُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) held a race between horses, and I was riding one of those horses. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should keep urging it on continuously, that is, keep striking it with the whip continuously."
