بَابُ الْأَكْلِ مِنْ آنِيَةِ الْمُشْرِكِينَChapter on eating from the vessels of polytheists
Hadith 4801

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الأُمَوِيُّ ، نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَأَةَ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنِ الْخُشَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، " إِنَّا نُخَالِطُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَيْسَ لَنَا قُدُورٌ ، وَلا آنِيَةٌ غَيْرُ آنِيَتِهِمْ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : اسْتَغْنُوا عَنْهَا مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَارْحَضُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ فَإِنَّ الْمَاءَ طَهُورُهَا ، ثُمَّ اطْبُخُوا فِيهَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! We live among the polytheists, and we do not have separate pots nor separate vessels." The narrator says that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If you are able, try to avoid them, but if there is no way out, then wash them with water; water will purify them, then cook (food) in them."
