Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma’di Karib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I have been given the Book and also that which is like it (i.e., the Sunnah has been given to me). Soon there will come a time when a person with a full belly, reclining on his bed, will say: ‘Between us and you is Allah’s Book; whatever is declared lawful in it, we will consider lawful, and whatever is declared unlawful in it, we will consider unlawful.’” (The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:) “It is not so. It is not permissible to eat any predatory animal with sharp teeth, or to eat a domesticated donkey, or to pick up the lost property of a person under a covenant. However, if it is something that is not needed, then the ruling will be different. Whoever becomes a guest of a people and they do not show him hospitality, then he has the right to forcibly take food from them according to his need.”
