حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ، نَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْقَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنَ حَنْطَبٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : شَهِدْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، الأَضْحَى بِالْمُصَلَّى ، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى وَقَضَى خُطْبَتَهُ ، نزل عَنْ مِنْبَرِهِ فَأُتِيَ بِكَبْشِهِ فَذَبَحَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ ، وَقَالَ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ هَذَا عَنِّي ، وَعَنْ مَنْ لَمْ يُضَحِّ مِنْ أُمَّتِي " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I was present with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) at the Eid al-Adha prayer in the Eidgah. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had completed the prayer and finished the sermon, he descended from his pulpit, went to a ram, slaughtered it with his blessed hand, and recited “Bismillah, Allahu Akbar” (In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest), and said: “This is on my behalf and on behalf of every member of my Ummah who could not offer a sacrifice.”
