Hadith 4715

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ ، نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا أَلْقَى الْبَحْرُ أَوْ جَزَرَ عَنْهُ فَكُلُوهُ ، وَمَا مَاتَ فِيهِ وَطَفَا فَلا تَأْكُلُوهُ " ، رَوَاهُ غَيْرُهُ مَوْقُوفًا.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever the sea throws out or brings up to the surface, eat it; and whatever dies in the sea and floats on the water, do not eat it." Other narrators have transmitted this as a mawquf (companion's) narration.
