حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نُوحٍ الْجُنْدِيسَابُورِيُّ ، نَا مُوسَى بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، نَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ ، نَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ بَاذَانَ ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ ، قَالَ : طَافَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْبَيْتِ ، وَقَالَ : " اسْقُونِي ، فَأُتِيَ بِنَبِيذِ زَبِيبٍ فَشَرِبَ فَقَطَّبَ فَرَدَّهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ ؟ ، فَوَاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَشَرَابٌ ، فَسَكَتَ فَأَعَادَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَكَتَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ ؟ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَشَرَابُ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ مِنْ آخِرِهِمْ ، قَالَ : رُدُّوهُ ، وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَصُبُّوا عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ فَجَعَلَ يَمُصُّهُ ، وَيَقُولُ : صَبَّ ، ثُمَّ عَادَ حَتَّى أَمْكَنَ شَرِبَهُ ، فَقَالَ : اصْنَعُوا بِهِ هَكَذَا " .
Sayyiduna Mutalib bin Abu Wada'ah narrates that once, after performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Give me something to drink!" So raisin nabidh (a drink made from soaked raisins) was brought to him. He drank some of it and then returned it. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Is this forbidden? By Allah, it is just a drink." But the Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent. He asked you again, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) again remained silent. He said, "O Messenger of Allah! Is this forbidden? By Allah, it is the special drink of the people of Makkah." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Bring it back to me!" Then he ordered the people to add water to it, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) began to drink it in sips. He kept saying: "Add a little more water." He (peace be upon him) kept repeating this until it became suitable for drinking. He said: "You should do this with it."
