حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ السَّرَخْسِيُّ ، نَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خِدَاشٍ ، نَا قَطَنٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الثَّعْلَبِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ : " انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِي ، إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، لِعَشَاءٍ فَتَعَشَّى ، ثُمَّ سَقَانَا ، ثُمَّ خَرَجْنَا فِي الظُّلْمَةِ ، فَلَمْ نَهْتَدِ فَأَرْسَلَ مَعَنَا بِشُعْلَةٍ مِنْ نَارٍ وَخَرَجْنَا " .
Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates: My father and I presented ourselves before Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). He served us dinner, then he gave us a drink. Then we left there in the darkness and could not find our way, so he gave us a flame of fire to accompany us, and thus we departed from there.
