Sa’ib bin Yazid narrates: Once, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the people and said: I smell alcohol from such-and-such person. I asked him what he had consumed, and he replied that he had drunk Tila. I am inquiring about alcohol; if it has intoxicated him, I will have him flogged. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had him given the full prescribed lashes.
