قُرِئَ عَلَى أَبِي مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَاعِدٍ ، وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ ، حَدَّثَكُمْ عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، وَأَبُو عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِعَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ، نَا سُفْيَانُ ، نَا الزُّهْرِيُّ ، وَسَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ ، يُخْبِرُ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتِ : اخْتَصَمَ ، سَعْدٌ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ ، عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، " أَوْصَانِي أَخِي عُتْبَةُ ، فَقَالَ : إِذَا دَخَلْتَ مَكَّةَ فَانْظُرِ ابْنَ أَمَةِ زَمْعَةَ فَاقْبِضْهُ فَإِنَّهُ ابْنِي ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَخِي ، ابْنُ أَمَةِ أَبِي ، وُلِدَ عَلَى فِرَاشِ أَبِي ، فَرَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَبَهًا بَيِّنًا بِعُتْبَةَ ، فَقَالَ : هُوَ لَكَ يَا عَبْدُ بْنَ زَمْعَةَ الْوَلَدُ لِلْفِرَاشِ ، وَاحْتَجِبِي مِنْهُ يَا سَوْدَةُ " .
Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, narrates that Sa’d and ‘Abd bin Zam’ah began to argue while sitting with the Prophet (peace be upon him). Sa’d said: O Messenger of Allah! My brother ‘Utbah made a bequest to me, he said that when you go to Mecca, look at the son of Zam’ah’s slave woman and take him into your care, for he is my son. ‘Abd bin Zam’ah said: O Messenger of Allah! He is the son of my father’s slave woman and my brother, who was born on my father’s bed. The Prophet (peace be upon him) noticed a clear resemblance of the child to ‘Utbah, so he said: “O ‘Abd bin Zam’ah! He will be attributed to you, for the child belongs to the (owner of the) bed.” O Sawdah! Observe veil from this boy.
