نَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهَا ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ إِلَيَّ ، وَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَكُمْ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَلْحَنَ بِحُجَّتِهِ مِنْ بَعْضٍ ، وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أَقْضِي عَلَى نَحْوِ مَا أَسْمَعُ ، فَمَنْ قَضَيْتُ لَهُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ حَقِّ أَخِيهِ فَلا يَأْخُذْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا فَإِنَّمَا أَقْطَعُ لَهُ قِطْعَةً مِنْ نَارٍ " ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي حَدِيثِ الزُّهْرِيِّ : " فَلْيَأْخُذْهَا أَوْ لِيَتْرُكْهَا " ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ هِشَامٍ : " فَلا يَأْخُذْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا " ، وَهِشَامٌ وَإِنْ كَانَ ثِقَةً ، فَإِنَّ الزُّهْرِيَّ أَحْفَظُ مِنْهُ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Sayyidah Zainab bint Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from her mother that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You people bring your disputes to me; it is possible that one of you may be more eloquent in presenting his argument than the other. I am also a human being, so in such a situation, I will decide according to what I hear. So, if I give a decision in favor of someone regarding his brother's right, then he should not take it, because I have cut a piece of Hell for him." In another narration, these words are mentioned: "Now it is up to him whether he takes it or leaves it."
