Daraqutni

Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hamaal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he requested the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to grant him the land called “Milh Shadha” at the place of “Ma’arib.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him that place. After that, Aqra’ bin Habis al-Tamimi submitted to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! In the time of ignorance, I had reached that place; it was a place where there was no sign of water. Whoever reached there would take possession of it, its example was like flowing water. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took that place back from Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hamaal. So Sayyiduna Abyad submitted that I am returning it on the condition that it will be counted as charity from my side. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “It will be counted as charity from your side, but its example is like flowing water; whoever reaches it will acquire it.” The narrator named Farrukh stated that the place is still the same today; whoever reaches there acquires it. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hamaal a date orchard at the place of “Juraf,” which is “Juraf Murad.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him this in exchange for the first land.
