Hadith 4429

نَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبَزَّازُ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، قَالا : نَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مَطَرٍ ، نَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَدْ كَانَ مَلَكَ مِائَةَ سَهْمٍ مِنْ خَيْبَرَ ، وَاشْتَرَاهَا حَتَّى اسْتَجْمَعَهَا ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي قَدْ أَصَبْتُ مَالا لَمْ أُصِبْ مِثْلَهُ ، وَقَدْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَتَقَرَّبَ بِهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ، فَقَالَ : احْبِسِ الأَصْلَ وَسَبِّلِ الثَّمَرَ " ،.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He had become the owner of one hundred shares in Khaybar. He also bought some more land and combined it. Then he came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I have acquired such land that I have never acquired before. I wish to attain closeness to Allah Almighty through it (i.e., to give it in charity)." So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep the original land with you and give its produce in the way of Allah."
