Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I have acquired land in Khaybar, and to me, I have never acquired land better than this. What do you command me regarding it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you wish, keep the original land with you and give its produce as charity." The narrator says: So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) kept the original land and gave its produce as charity, in such a way that the land could neither be sold, nor gifted, nor inherited, and its produce would be for the poor, close relatives, slaves, warriors in the cause of Allah, travelers, and guests. And there would be no sin upon the person who manages it if he eats from it in a reasonable manner or feeds a friend from it, as long as he is not accumulating wealth.
