The son of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once, a man was traveling with his wife. The woman gave birth to a child, but the child was unable to suckle milk. So the husband began to suckle his wife's milk until he tasted the milk in his own throat. He then went to Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned this matter to him. Abu Musa said: "Your wife has become unlawful for you." Then the man went to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). After that, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "You have given this verdict, whereas the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said: 'Suckling is only that which strengthens the bone and grows the flesh.'"
