Hadith 4319

نَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ زَاجٌ ، نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا نَذْرَ إِلا فِيمَا أُطِيعُ اللَّهُ ، وَلا يَمِينٌ فِي غَصْبٍ ، وَلا طَلاقَ ، وَلا عَتَاقَ فِيمَا لا يَمْلِكُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A vow is only regarding that matter in which obedience to Allah Almighty is observed. There is no validity to a vow concerning something usurped, or regarding divorce, or freeing a slave that is not in a person's ownership."
