Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Abu Talhah, Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b, and Sayyiduna Suhail ibn Bayda' (may Allah be pleased with them), were sitting with Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) drinking wine made from dates and dried dates. I was serving them the wine. They wanted to take that wine, when suddenly a Muslim passed by and said: "Do you know that wine has been declared unlawful?" All of them said: "O Anas! Pour out the wine that is in your vessel." They said this as soon as we came to know of this matter. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: So I poured out that wine. Shaykh Abu Abdullah, that is, Ubaydullah ibn Abd al-Samad, says: This indicates that a single report (khabar wahid) makes action obligatory.
