نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْبَزَّازُ ، نَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْبَرْقِيُّ ، نَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ، نَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَخْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : أَشْهَدُ عَلَى أَبِي يُحَدِّثُنِي : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يَقُولُ الْقَوْلَ ، ثُمَّ يَلْبَثُ حِينًا ، ثُمَّ يَنْسَخَهُ بِقَوْلٍ آخَرَ ، كَمَا ينسخ الْقُرْآنُ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I swear by my father regarding this matter, he told me that sometimes the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would say something, and after some time, he would abrogate it. This was exactly like how one part of the Qur'an abrogates another.
