According to one narration, this statement is attributed to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). According to another chain of transmission, this statement is attributed to Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), who reports: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ali! I am pleased for you with that which I am pleased for myself, and I dislike for you that which I dislike for myself. Do not recite the Qur'an when you are in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), nor when you are in the state of bowing (ruku'), nor when you are in the state of prostration (sujud). And do not perform prayer when you have tied up your hair, and (during prayer in the state of bowing) do not bend as a donkey bends its head."
