Hadith 4244

نَا ابْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَعْتَقَ عَبْدًا وَلَهُ مَالٌ فَمَالُهُ لَهُ إِلا أَنْ يَسْتَثْنِيَهُ السَّيِّدُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever frees a slave and that slave possesses some wealth, then that wealth will remain with the slave, except if his master makes an exception, then the ruling will be different."
