Hadith 4226

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ، نَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَلانِسِيُّ ، نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، نَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَعْتَقَ شِرْكًا لَهُ فِي مَمْلُوكٍ ، فَقَدْ ضَمِنَ عِتْقَهُ ، يُقَوِّمُ عَلَيْهِ بِقِيمَةِ عَدْلٍ فَيَضْمَنُ لِشُرَكَائِهِ أَنْصِبَاءَهُمْ ، وَيَعْتِقُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever frees his share in a slave, then he will be responsible for his complete freedom. The value of the slave will be assessed justly, and that person will pay the compensation amount to the other partners according to their shares, and then he will free the slave."
