Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a slave who is jointly owned by two men, and one of them frees his share. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The share of the slave will be freed, and the appropriate value will be paid from the wealth of the one who set him free. If the person who set him free does not have that wealth, then the slave will work to earn it, but he will not be subjected to hardship in this matter."
