Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man freed his share in a slave, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved his act of freeing and ordered him to pay the remaining value of the slave as compensation. Qatadah says: If the person does not possess wealth, then the slave will be made to work for wages, however, he will not be subjected to hardship in this matter. Nishapuri has stated that the best narration is the one transmitted by Hammam, and he has clarified the difference between the statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the saying of Qatadah.
