Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the verdict regarding a mukatab (a slave with a contract of manumission) who was killed, that the amount of blood money (diyah) corresponding to the portion he had paid from his contract would be calculated as the diyah of a free man, and the remaining portion for which payment was still due would be calculated as the diyah of a slave.
