حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ ، نا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كُنْتُ امْرَأَةً أَشُدُّ ضَفْرَ رَأْسِي ، فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّمَا يَكْفِيكِ أَنْ تَحْثِيَ عَلَى رَأْسِكِ ثَلاثَ حَثَيَاتٍ ، أَوْ ثَلاثَ حَفَنَاتٍ ثُمَّ تُفْرِغِي عَلَيْكِ فَإِذَا أَنْتِ قَدْ طَهُرْتِ " .
Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: "My hair used to be tightly braided. I asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about this, and he said: 'It is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water over your head. (Here, the narrator is in doubt about the exact wording of the hadith.) Pour water over your entire body, and you will become pure.'"
