Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the ritual bath (ghusl) after major impurity, he would first begin by washing his hands, then he would perform ablution (wudu) as he did for prayer, then he would insert his blessed hand into the vessel and use the water to run his fingers through the roots of his hair, until when he felt that he had thoroughly washed his skin, he would take water in both hands and pour it over his head three times, and after that, he would wash his entire body.
