Zaid bin Aslam narrates: Qasim was asked about the waiting period (‘iddah) of a slave woman, so he replied: “People say it is two menstrual cycles, but we do not have knowledge about this (the narrator is in doubt or perhaps these are the words), we do not find this ruling in the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger.” Ibn Wahb has transmitted the same statement from Qasim and Salim with his chain: “This ruling is not in the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger, however, the Muslims act upon it.”
