Hadith 3993

نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ عِيسَى الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ السَّلامِ الصَّدَفِيُّ ، نَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ ، عَنْ عِصْمَةَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَ مَمْلُوكٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ مَوْلايَ زَوَّجَنِي ، وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُفَرِّقَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ امْرَأَتِي ، قَالَ : فَصَعِدَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمِنْبَرَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنَّمَا الطَّلاقُ لِمَنْ أَخَذَ بِالسَّاقِ " .
Sayyiduna Asmah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A slave came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "My master first got me married, now he wants to separate me from my wife." The narrator says: So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the pulpit and said: "O people! The right to divorce belongs to the one who holds the calf (of the leg)."
