Abdullah bin Ali narrates: My grandfather Sayyiduna Rukanah bin Abd Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) informed his wife of divorce. He went to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I have informed my wife of divorce." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What did you mean (by these words)?" He replied: "I intended one divorce." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "By Allah's oath?" He replied: "By Allah's oath!" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then it will be counted as one (divorce)." Ishaq bin Isra'il has narrated contrary to this (which is as follows).
