نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مِرْدَاسٍ ، نَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ ، نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ ، وَأَبُو ثَوْرٍ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، وَآَخَرُونَ ، قَالُوا : نَا الشَّافِعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ عُجَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ يَزِيدَ ، أَنَّ رُكَانَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ يَزِيدَ " طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ سُهَيْمَةَ الْبَتَّةَ ، فَأُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ إِلا وَاحِدَةً ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَدْتَ إِلا وَاحِدَةً ؟ ، فَقَالَ رُكَانَةُ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ إِلا وَاحِدَةً ، فَرَدَّهَا إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَطَلَّقَهَا الثَّانِيَةَ فِي زَمَانِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، وَالثَّالِثَةَ فِي زَمَانِ عُثْمَانَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ : وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ .
Nafi’ bin ‘Ujeir narrates: Sayyiduna Rukanah bin Yazid informed his wife, Suhaimah, of divorce. He informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this. He said: “O Messenger of Allah! I have informed my wife, Suhaimah, of divorce. By Allah, I only intended to give one divorce by it.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Rukanah (may Allah be pleased with him): “By Allah! Did you only intend one divorce?” Sayyiduna Rukanah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: “By Allah! I only intended one divorce.” So the Prophet returned the woman to him. Sayyiduna Rukanah (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the second divorce during the caliphate of Sayyiduna ‘Umar and the third divorce during the caliphate of Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them). Imam Dawud says: This hadith is authentic.
