Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "The Sunnah method of giving divorce is that a man should divorce a woman when she is in a state of purity, and (during that period of purity) he has not had intercourse with her, or he should divorce her when her pregnancy has become apparent."
