Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I divorced my wife while she was in her menstrual period. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him (about this issue). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell him to take her back. When she becomes pure, if he wishes, he may divorce her then." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "Will you count this divorce as effective?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes."
