Hadith 3837

نَا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ ، نَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، نَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، وَمَطَرٍ ، عَنْ رَجَاءِ بْنِ حَيْوَةَ ، عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ : " لا تَلْبَسُوا عَلَيْنَا سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّنَا ، عِدَّتُهَا عِدَّةُ الْمُتَوَفَّى عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا " .
Sayyiduna Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Do not confuse the command of the Sunnah of our Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) before us; the waiting period (‘iddah) of an umm walad is like the waiting period of a widow, that is, four months and ten days."
