Ishaq bin Bahlul says: I asked Abdullah bin Dawood: "If a man cannot find an equal family match for the girl under his guardianship, should he marry her to a religious man from a lesser family?" He replied: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will only permit the marriage of women from good families to men of equal families."
