Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her) separated from her husband, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed her waiting period (‘iddah) to be the same as that of a divorced woman (i.e., three menstrual cycles).
