Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Mahmiya bin Juz’ and two individuals to Lady Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), so that they may convey a marriage proposal on behalf of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Lady Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) was residing in Makkah at that time. She entrusted this responsibility to her sister, Lady Umm Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her). Lady Umm Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her) entrusted this responsibility to her husband (and the Prophet’s uncle), Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). So Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) solemnized the marriage of Lady Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
