Nafi' reports: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) married Zainab bint Uthman, the daughter of Uthman bin Maz'un, after his death. The girl's uncle, Qudamah, arranged the marriage. Mughira bin Shu'bah offered her a higher dowry, so the girl's mother said to her: "Do not maintain (the marriage arranged by your uncle)." The girl did not like the marriage with Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). Then the girl and her mother informed the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about this matter, so he annulled the marriage. Afterwards, Mughira bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) married the girl.
