حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ خُشَيْشٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ : أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَقْطَعَ الرِّجْلَ بَعْدَ الْيَدِ وَالرِّجْلِ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : السُّنَّةُ الْيَدِ . ".
Qasim narrates that: When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to cut the (other) foot (of a thief) after cutting his hand and foot (for the third theft), Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Sunnah is that (now) the hand should be cut."
