Abdur Rahman bin Qasim narrates from his father: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to cut off (the thief’s other) foot; (one hand and one foot of that thief had already been cut off before), so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Sunnah is (that now, on the third occasion,) his (other) hand should be cut off.”
