نَا نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ أَبُو سَهْلٍ ، نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ الْوَزَّاعِ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ ، نَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَاجِرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرَةَ مِنْ بَنِي قَيْسِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ صَنْعَاءَ يَسْبِقُ النَّاسَ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ وَجَدَ مَعَ وَلِيدَتِهِ سَبْعَةَ رِجَالٍ يَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ ، فَأَخَذُوهُ وَقَتَلُوهُ ثُمَّ أَلْقَوْهُ فِي بِئْرٍ ، فَجَاءَ الَّذِي مِنْ بَعْدِهِ فَسُئِلَ عَنْهُ فَأُخْبِرَ أَنَّهُ مَضَى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، قَالَ : فَذَهَبَ الرِّجَالُ إِلَى الْخَلاءِ فَرَأَى ذُبَابًا يَلِجُ فِي خَرَقَ الرَّحَى ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا ، فَعَرَفَ أَنَّ فِيهَا لَحْمًا ، فَرَفَعَ الرَّحَى وَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى سَرِيَّةِ الرَّجُلِ ، فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ بِالْقَوْمِ ، فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ عُمَرُ : أَنِ اضْرِبْ أَعْنَاقَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ، وَاقْتُلْهَا مَعَهُمْ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ أَهْلُ صَنْعَاءَ اشْتَرَكُوا فِي دَمِهِ قَتَلْتُهُمْ بِهِ " .
Ubaidullah bin Umairah narrates: There was a man from Sana'a who used to return home before everyone else every year. One day, when he returned home, he found seven men drinking wine with his slave-girl (or wife). The seven of them caught him, killed him, and threw him into a well. When the next person arrived and inquired about the first man, they told him that he had already left. Then the (later arriving) person went to relieve himself and saw some flies coming and going from the millstone of the well, from which he guessed that there was flesh inside. He lifted the millstone and called the family members of the (murdered) man and informed them about it. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to him: "Behead all of them and kill the woman along with them. If all the people of Sana'a had participated in his murder, I would have had all of them killed."
