Hadith 3448

نَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ، نَا جَابِرُ بْنُ الْكُرْدِيِّ ، نَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، نَا حَجَّاجٌ الصَّوَّافُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمُكَاتَبِ يُؤَدِّي بِمَا أَدَّى مِنْ كِتَابَتِهِ دِيَةَ الْحُرِّ ، وَمَا بَقِيَ دِيَةَ الْعَبْدِ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the verdict regarding the mukatab (contracted slave): "Whatever portion he has paid from the contract, his blood money (diyah) will be according to that portion of a free man’s diyah, and whatever payment remains upon him, his diyah will be according to that portion of a slave’s diyah."
